About the role
We’re looking for a Senior Product Owner to support a high-priority implementation within a pharmacy rebate product. The work introduces and enhances client payment and reporting capabilities, including role-based access controls, logical data restrictions, payment-cycle changes and new reporting fields.
You’ll work from high-level requirements and partner with business, implementation, product and engineering stakeholders to clarify needs, define how the solution should behave, and break the work into development-ready stories.
This is a hands-on delivery role for an experienced Product Owner who is comfortable joining a fast-moving initiative, navigating ambiguity, and coordinating changes within an existing platform and shared code base. A lead Product Owner will provide context and guidance, but you’ll need to independently elicit requirements, organize the work and keep delivery moving.
What you’ll do
- Own and refine the product backlog for client payment and reporting work.
- Translate high-level business, contract and implementation requirements into clear features, user stories, acceptance criteria and development-ready increments.
- Facilitate requirements discovery with business stakeholders, implementation partners, product peers and technical teams, surfacing gaps, decisions, assumptions and edge cases.
- Partner with the business team that interprets contractual requirements, and turn approved interpretations into actionable product requirements.
- Support delivery of client-specific capabilities such as role-based access control, logical data restrictions, monthly payment processing and additional reporting fields.
- Prioritize and sequence work based on business value, timing, technical complexity, dependencies and team capacity.
- Coordinate with other Product Owners working in the same area to manage shared-code-base impacts, communicate planned functionality and avoid conflicting changes.
- Take part in Agile ceremonies and cross-team dependency forums, including weekly scrum-of-scrums.
- Work with engineers, testers and stakeholders throughout delivery to clarify requirements, validate outcomes and support acceptance.
- Use your data fluency to understand inputs, outputs, batch processes, controls, calculations and client-facing financial reporting.
- Create simple UI concepts or mockups for minor workflow and interface enhancements when useful (specialized UX design skills aren’t required).
- Adapt across implementation work and other client payment and reporting priorities as scope shifts between teams.
- Use approved AI-enabled practices where appropriate, including AI to speed up story writing and refinement.
What you’ll bring
- Around 5–10+ years as a Product Owner, Product Manager, Business Systems Analyst or in a similar product-delivery role, including senior-level ownership of complex technology work.
- A proven ability to elicit requirements and independently turn incomplete or high-level needs into well-structured user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Experience with complex operational, financial, reporting, claims, payment or batch-processing systems.
- A strong understanding of data flows, and the ability to reason through source data, business rules, calculations, outputs and reporting needs (advanced SQL isn’t required).
- Experience working with software development teams in an Agile environment and managing a backlog through delivery.
- Strong stakeholder facilitation, communication, organization and follow-through.
- The ability to work well in a fast-paced initiative with evolving requirements, a compressed timeline and several teams contributing to one platform.
Nice to have
- PBM experience, ideally with pharmacy rebates, client payments or financial reporting tied to client payments.
- Working knowledge of pharmacy claims and how claims data feeds rebate, payment or client-reporting processes.
- Experience with rebate operations or other recurring financial processes that produce monthly or quarterly outputs.
- Experience defining role-based access controls, data-access restrictions, payment-cycle changes or client-specific reporting enhancements.
- Experience creating lightweight UI mockups or defining minor interface and workflow enhancements.
- Exposure to teams using agentic AI, or personal experience using AI tools to draft, refine or quality-check user stories.
What success looks like
- You quickly build enough domain and platform context to contribute with limited ramp-up time.
- Engineers can estimate and deliver your stories with minimal rework or repeated clarification.
- You build trust with business partners while pressing for the decisions and detail delivery needs.
- You keep multiple product teams aligned on shared-code-base changes and spot collisions or dependencies early.
- You balance client urgency with sound product judgment, operational controls and platform maintainability.
